We are so excited to present to you the first ever synnection.com episode on contrarian learning and living! Our special guest is Alex Mill. He lived 14 years in a Zen Buddhist Monastery and now teaches the wisdom he acquired there.
Learn about ‘The Voice’ and what to do about it. And about training puppies.
1. The Voice
The voice is something outside of us that talks us out of doing things that benefit us and into things that won’t serve us.
2. “How you do anything, is how you do everything.”
When we think we ‘can’t’ do something it’s worth having a look at what that really means. What are we telling ourselves? How is that showing up in other parts of our life?
3. Training your awareness muscle is like training a puppy.
When we approach training our awareness and attention like training a puppy, we are compassionate and kind to ourselves. Would you beat a puppy? Probably not! Think of your attention like a cute little puppy and you will see it grow and develop.
What would Alex tell his high-school self if he could travel back in time?
“That I love him. Because that is what he wanted to hear for a very long time.”
